No matter how you look at it, diapers and wipes just get to be downright expensive! And the fact that you are blowing money on something that you are soon going to be throwing in the garbage isn’t very comforting either.
Yes, I know there are cloth diapers and understand that they are supposed to be cheaper. But if you are like me and just can’t bring yourself to switch to cloth diapers for your baby, take heart.
Without too much hassle, you can regularly get cheap diapers and probably keep from going broke in the process too!
Here’s are the hacks I use to save on diapers, the best places I found to buy diapers and my tips on how to get cheap diapers and wipes.
5 Tips To Save Money On Diapers And Wipes
1. Make Sure To Use Coupons & Buy Them On Sale
This is the number one way that I save the most money on diapers and wipes.
Look for printable coupons for diapers and wipes. You will find a lot of them on sites like Coupons.com. I often find coupons which give me a $0.50 savings on wipes and $1.50 savings on diapers from companies like Huggies and Pampers. In addition, I also go on apps such as Checkout 51 and search for diaper and wipes offers.
Sometimes you will be able to combine coupons with sale prices and this can save you a lot of money. Many times I have able to get a pack of diapers for $5 or less and wipes for less than $1.00.
Some of the best places to get diapers are drugstores like CVS, Rite Aid and regional grocery store chains like Giant and ShopRite. If you keep an eye out on all these places you will easily be able to find great deals on diapers.
2. Don’t Change Diaper Sizes Too Soon
Why is this important? As it turns out, the larger the diaper, the less diapers there are in each package and thus it’s more expensive.
Diaper packages come with a suggested weight per size. After having several kids, I have found that my kids can wear the different size diapers for longer that the package suggests.
For example, my little girl weighs more than the size 3 diapers say they are made for but they still fit her fine, we don’t have leaks and so we continue to stick with them. I have found that Instead of going with what the package recommends, the best practice is to change sizes once we start having lots of leaks.
3. Be Careful When You Put On the Diaper
To get the most out of smaller diapers this is something you have to pay careful attention to. You will find that your child can wear smaller size diapers longer if you are careful about putting them on.
Here is what you should look out for. If the diaper is leaking out of the top then pull the it up more in the front. If it’s leaking out the back, then pull the diaper up more in the back. If it’s leaking at both ends, now you know that it’s time to move up to the next size!
4. Stock Up On Diapers
Yes, Whenever you see diapers or wipes on sale you should buy them even if you don’t immediately need them. The idea behind this simple.
There is no reason to pay full price for something that you can easily save a couple of bucks on. If you only purchase diapers and wipes when you need them, you usually end up spending more money.
Be like me, and take diaper stockpiling seriously. At the time when I was pregnant with my little girl, I started buying diapers and wipes whenever I saw them at on sale. By the time she was born a little over a year ago, I had 42 packages of diapers and about 30 packages of wipes.
It’s only now that I am getting to the last of what I bought. As time has gone on I’ve continued to be able to keep buying ahead so I have never had to buy diapers for more than $5, or buy wipes for more than a dollar. That has meant huge savings for my family!
5. Buy Diapers And Wipes In Bulk
Even If you don’t use coupons for diapers, you should buy in bulk to save money.
I have found that Target.com and Amazon are two of the best places to find cheap diapers online and they allow you to buy big boxes of diapers and wipes at great prices.
When shopping at Target, be sure you get the Target RED Card. This will allow you to save 5% on all purchases plus get free 2 day shipping.
For Amazon, make sure you join Amazon Family allows . You can get up to 20% savings on many of their diapers and wipes, plus free 2-day shipping on most items by joining..
